On a beautiful fall Wednesday, Christ School hosted the Carolinas Athletic Association Cross Country Championships.
After a successful Cross Country season in which he bested every WNC runner he faced, Andrew Hammel '20 has been named Western North Carolina Runner of the Year.
The Nantahala Outdoor Center bills itself as the nation's largest outdoor recreation company, and upper management includes a Christ School graduate.
Christ School's Andrew Hammel '20 beat his own 5K school record by 12 seconds at the Foot Locker Regional Cross Country meet, running a 15:39.59 in Charlotte, NC.
After coming in just seconds shy of winning the Spartanburg Eye Opener meet this past Saturday, Andrew Hammel '20 backed up that performance with a first place finish at the Buncombe County Meet at Asheville Christian School on Wednesday afternoon. He has now won two of his three meets as a Greenie, and continues to lead his teammates on and off the trails.

Over the last four games, Cobb has amassed over 700 all-purpose yards, scored 10 touchdowns, intercepted three passes on defense, and returned a kickoff, an interception, and a fumble recovery for a touchdown.
