Newspapers were very much the source of record for communities back in September 1965, and the Asheville Citizen-Times captured a priceless moment between Greenie Legend Richard “Fessor” Fayssoux ‘1916, P’45, GP’67, and GP’71 and his grandson, Rick ’67.
Fessor is seen trying to squeeze into one of the old leather helmets – the kind he would have worn as the quarterback for Christ School’s first season of organized football in 1915. Fessor’s last football team went 8-0 in 1965, and he would retire from his role as head coach the following summer.
We're delighted to announce that Rick has been named the Honorary Captain for the 100th playing of “The Game,” which is September 26 here in Arden.
