Brayden Crain '28 is new to Christ School, but already a household name to Division I college football programs.

Announcing the 2025 All-Western Football Conference team, which includes recognition for 19 Greenies. The WFC is a four-team league made up of Christ School, Cannon School, Metrolina Christian Academy, and Rabun Gap (Ga.).  

Two seniors whose primary responsibility was to stop opponents had the green light to sign with their respective colleges Thursday, part of a special, school-wide celebration in St. Joseph’s Chapel. 

Congratulations to Niko Andrews ’26 (University of Richmond football) and Felix Huebner ’26 (Loyola University Maryland soccer) for taking this next step in their athletic careers. 

Announcing the 2025 Fall Sports All-Academic Team, coming on the heels of the best-ever seasons for soccer and cross country, which still has next month’s Nike Cross Nationals (NXN) in Portland. Every one of these Greenies carries a weighted grade-point average above 4.0, exemplifying the true student-athlete experience at Christ School.

Christ School varsity football found its margin for error Friday night, then seemed determined to stretch it. 

The Greenies did more than enough self-inflicted harm with costly penalties, including three flags that called back touchdowns. They spotted a young Concord Christian team a 14-0 lead. In the end, the result was all that mattered after taking more than three hours to claw out a 46-24 home win.

With the advent of a running clock, the school record for single-game points (102 vs. Biltmore High School in 1921) is probably safe.

LILBURN, Ga. - Win No. 1 for Greenie football under coach Clint Alexander was a win by committee Friday night in Georgia.

Jackson Tolbert ’27 connected with Zach Byrd ‘28 for two touchdown passes (9 and 12 yards) and four other Christ School players scored touchdowns in a 44-14 win that had a running clock for the entire second half.

Sidney Gibbs ’19 made his professional debut for the German Football League’s Straubing Spiders on Saturday. And it was not an understated debut by any means. 

Almost one-third of Christ School’s senior class will continue their athletic careers at the next level.

Friday’s assembly featured a Spring Commitment Ceremony for the 17th, 18th, and 19th seniors to make their college decisions official: Luc Madesclaire ‘25 (Denison football), Jordan Edgecomb ‘25 (Colgate football), and William Hughes ‘25 (Sewanee cross country and track).

Unselfishness, discipline, and leadership show up on Friday nights and every day in between. These intangibles are bigger than football and a truer measure of a team than wins and losses, Clint Alexander said. 

Saturday’s “Meet the Coach” program in Pingree Auditorium was the first chance for many Christ School parents and players to hear directly from Coach Alexander since his hiring as Program Director and Varsity Coach on April 9. He also spent time with the team earlier in the morning. 

The next pass that Aydan White ’20 bats down or intercepts will be as Christ School’s first NFL player in 43 years. 

Saturday saw the Greenie alumnus and Asheville native graduate to the very highest level of professional football, signing an undrafted free agent deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars. 

Championship culture comes before trophies in Clint Alexander’s playbook, with his essentials to success being the core values of discipline, leadership, and unselfishness.

Coach Alexander has built winning programs and taught, mentored, and coached adolescent boys into men of character everywhere he has been in 29 years with this as a foundation, from large public schools to small independent schools.

Luc is a 6-foot-1, 250-pound lineman from Fredericksburg, Va. 

Christ School athletics lost a legend with the recent passing of James Lewis Martin ’57, better known to his classmates as “Jim.”

Jim was a charter member of the Athletic Hall of Fame in 1997 and the first NFL player in school history. He briefly played with the Cleveland Browns before serving his country in the U.S. Army for three and a half years.

Aydan White ’20 announced on his Instagram that he is declaring for the NFL Draft!

Christ School’s seniors walked off the field as winners in their final high school game on November 22. 

The good news has kept coming. 

There are now three Greenies who have committed to colleges since that epic 26-25 overtime win over Asheville School the week before Thanksgiving. 

Team captain Finley Sullivan ’25 talked about the ups and downs of college recruiting in his Senior Speech last month. 

Wednesday was the apex - Finley signed to play football for VMI on National Signing Day. 

Still flying high after Friday, Christ School football has placed three players on this year's NCISAA Division I all-state team.
