BOSTIC – Mak Anderson ’28 may be technically new to Christ School, but there’s an explainable synchronicity to the routes that one receiver runs for the dual-threat quarterback.
Sure enough, Mak said Friday that he and Dre Smith ’27 are in lockstep because the two previously played AAU 7-on-7 football together in their home state of South Carolina.
And when the opportunity arose to become high school teammates, it was too good to pass up.
Pun intended.
Mak’s five-touchdown night in a 50-14 win at East Rutherford started by connecting with Dre on the very first play from scrimmage for a 66-yard pass, and later for a second TD from 13 yards out. Mak also found Brayden Crain ‘28 for two scores (16 and 25 yards) and ran a 24-yard keeper into the end zone.
With the win in hand, Christ School (2-0) sat many of its starters in the second half of the program’s first 50-point game since 2024.
“It’s a great feeling. We’re still bonding, but the receivers and I trust each other so I knew I could get the ball to them,” Mak said.
“I’m liking everything so far (at Christ School). Every new place takes some getting used to. I like new things.”
Mak threw for 2,700 yards and 31 touchdowns in 2025 and reclassified in July, which reunited him with Dre, a second-year player for the Greenies who had 29 receptions for 543 yards and five touchdowns as a junior.
Raphaël Marchand ’28 (25 yards) and Matt Delpelche ’29 (2) added touchdown runs in the final 20 minutes of Friday's game after Christ School led the Cavaliers, 36-6, at halftime. Marvin Asumadu ’28 and Myles Murphy ’27 recovered fumbles and the defense forced East Rutherford (0-2) to turn the ball over on downs three times.
The next game for the Greenies is a 300-mile road trip across the state to Harrells Christian Academy (1-0). The September 4 game will kick off at 7 p.m.
