Football Steamrolls Metrolina Christian for Seventh Win

INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. – Christ School varsity football traditionally fares well at Metrolina Christian Academy.

Friday night's 48-14 win set a new standard for ease.

The Greenies (7-2) have now won seven games for the first time since 2018 and were able to rest many of the starters in Friday's third and fourth quarters after leading 48-7 at the half.

Dre Smith '27 returned the first punt of the game 65 yards for a touchdown at the 9:45 mark of the first quarter and caught a 10-yard TD pass from Mak Anderson '28 (Mak’s 21st of the season). Mak later scored on a 4-yard keeper, Matt Delpeche '29 rushed for two touchdowns, Jonas Kalverde '28 had one, and Logan Woolsey '27 scooped up a fumble for a defensive touchdown. Wes McAven ’27 and James Ballanytne ’30 handled kicking duties Friday.

The Warriors (3-6) drove for their first points with 25.3 seconds to go in the second quarter, but it was too little, too late. As a result of the halftime score, the second half was played entirely with a running clock.

The Greenies conclude their regular season next week at Cannon School.
