Winning an NCAA championship would ordinarily be the perfect exclamation point to a career.
Nick Crowley ’22 is not done with lacrosse, and lacrosse is not done with him.
The Christ School alumnus was taken with the 12th overall pick in last Thursday’s National Lacrosse League draft, going to the Halifax Thunderbirds.
The 2026-27 NLL season begins in late-November. But the pros will have to wait for Nick, who is using his fifth and final year of college eligibility to play next spring for Rutgers University, where he is pursuing a master’s in Financial Analysis. The way the NLL works in this case is that Halifax will retain the right to sign Nick to his first professional contract after his 2027 season for Rutgers is over.
Nick transferred from reigning national champion Princeton, where he appeared in 44 games as a long-stick midfielder with 32 ground balls, 19 caused turnovers, and an assist. Last May, he had two ground balls and a caused turnover in the Tigers’ run to an NCAA title.
Nick is from Peterborough, Ontario. He was a two-time all-state player and the team MVP as a senior at Christ School in addition to being the Prefect in South Carolina House.
Congratulations, Nick!
