William Fleming '17 Promoted to Triple-A Baseball

Baseball players romanticize the city of Omaha, Nebraska, as all roads lead there each year for the College World Series.

William Fleming ’17 was no different at Wake Forest.

Turns out, Omaha is not a bad spot to be now either. There, William is one call away from becoming the first-ever Christ School alumnus to reach the major league level.

The Kansas City Royals promoted William to their Triple-A affiliate, the Omaha Storm Chasers, on Friday. Two days later, he pitched 4.2 scoreless innings with six strikeouts in a 2-0 win over Columbus (Ohio). William gave up only two hits and no walks.

William is believed to be Christ School’s first Triple-A player since William Corn, who played outfielder for a team out of Baltimore in the 1920s.

This is the fourth year of professional baseball for William. In 2023, he was 5-2 with a 4.11 earned-run average and 91 strikeouts in 107.1 innings pitched for Double-A Northwest Arkansas and High-A Quad Cities.
