Varsity Soccer Wins on Senior Night

Seniors

Senior Night is something no Greenie will ever take for granted again, at least in the short term.

High school athletic events all over the United States came to a standstill in March for the COVID-19 pandemic. Recognition for many seniors from the Class of 2020 had to be done virtually.

Christ School has successfully resumed sports since August, and Wednesday was a chance to celebrate the soccer careers of Mitch Donahoo ’21, Tyler Bell ’21, Charlie Bell ’21, Carson Campbell ’21, Ollie Searle ’21, Luke Rheney ’21, Grant Haldeman ’21, Sam Brie ’21, Billy Thackston ’21, and ASSIST student Daniel Potapov ’22.

Every senior was in the starting lineup for a 5-1 home win over the Asheville Trailblazers. Ollie, who suffered an early-season leg injury, was an honorary assistant coach. Goals were scored by Mitch, Sam, Charlie, and Ethan Rose ’24 (twice). Billy and Sawyer Breiter ’22 split time in goal. More photos from Wednesday can be viewed at Facebook.com/ChristSchool.org.

Now the Greenies (2-8-0) will await word on the NCISAA 4-A state playoffs. Pairings are expected to be announced over the weekend.
