Christ School senior Triston Mowry '23 has received a $1,000 scholarship to the college or university of his choice after graduating from the Colony Leadership Academy in his home state of Georgia.
The Academy is sponsored by Colony Bank and an 11-month program designed to encourage students to recognize their own potential and develop leadership skills through service-learning projects, workshops, and interaction with local leaders and decision makers.
Triston's hometown is Savannah, Ga., and he is the Prefect in Harris House.
"Being a leader isn't just telling someone what to do. A good leader gets in the trenches," Triston said in his Sept. 5 Senior Speech.
"If a new student doesn't know how to do a job, you don't tell them to just figure it out. You do the job with him, roll up your sleeves, and get dirty. Telling them to just figure it out won't make you a better leader and it won't make them a better student."
