Threepeat! Soccer Clinches Another CAA Championship

RABUN GAP, Ga. – Between the time investment and undulating mountain roads, there’s no easy way to get to Rabun Gap. The return home is a whole lot more fun on nights like Thursday.

Two more goals by Oliver King ‘28 and another stalwart evening by the back line swung in Christ School varsity soccer’s favor as the Greenies locked up at least a piece of their third consecutive Carolinas Athletic Association championship with a 2-0 shutout.

Oliver put away a corner kick fed in by Vytis Rimkus ’29 in the first half, then capitalized again from close range when Wyatt Campbell ’27 sent a pass his way in the second half. Oliver, who is a junior from Hendersonville, N.C., now has a team-high 17 goals for the season.

Christ School (12-2-1, 6-0) and Rabun Gap (11-3, 4-2) are winners of the last five NCISAA 4-A championships. The Greenies have now won five consecutive meetings between the two sides by outscoring the Eagles, home and away, 9-1. This includes a September 22 home game when Christ School lost starting goalkeeper Max Rodriguez ’29 for the season to a shoulder injury.

Jameson Dow ’27, who has committed to play college lacrosse for Lehigh (also as a goaltender), made four saves for the clean sheet Thursday.

The next game for the Greenies is Monday at home against Winston-Salem Christian, and the team can clinch the CAA championship outright two days later at Asheville School, a rival they haven’t lost to since 2020.

JV Greenies 4, Rabun Gap 0

Luke Graham '29 led the JV Greenies with two goals and an assist in their shutout win Thursday night.

George Prate '30 and Tristan Riley '31 added one goal each, while Benjamin Ayisah-Quaye '28 and Chase Manganiello had an assist. Christ School (8-1-1) has won seven consecutive games dating back to the start of the streak on September 8.
