If there are varying degrees of “close,” then Thursday was about as close as a tennis match can get.

Christ School returned home victorious from Charlotte Christian, 5-4, toughing out a season opener that was full of tiebreakers and other tense moments.

The Greenies (1-0) won two of the three doubles matches after the score was tied 3-all at the conclusion of singles. Individual winners for Christ School were Ben Fedder ‘24 at No. 2 singles, Burnam Dubose ‘26 at No. 3, and Martin Gonzalez ‘25 at No. 5.

Prevailing in doubles were Ben and Michael Drendel ‘23 in the No. 1 slot and the pairing of Burnam and Henry Warner ‘24 at No. 3. The next match for Christ School is Wednesday at home against the Asheville Trailblazers.

Thank you to coach Jameel Brenneman for providing these scores and the photo.
