Special thanks to Dr. Harris for this report on Greenie swimming:
Christ School has been on a marathon tour in January, competing in Waynesville (N.C.), twice in Asheville, and Rabun Gap (Ga.). After a full Christmas Break, it’s not easy to pick back up to race pace, but the Greenies did!
The team has turned in 17 first-place finishes during this stretch with Spencer Thompson ‘26, Nolan Johnson ‘27, Evan Reich ‘26, Owen Johnson ‘28 and Alex Jarrett ‘26 consistently adding to season scores on the podium (all are state-qualified in multiple events). Other highlights include winning the Pisgah High School Invitational as a team, 20 personal-best times, and three more state-qualifying times. (Nolan in the 500-yard freestyle, Owen in the 50-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle).
The Greenies won the medley relay and the 400-yard freestyle relay in a meet Thursday at UNC Asheville. Owen cut 1.39 seconds off his time in the 50 freestyle to qualify for the state meet. Other notable personal records were Alex in the 50 free (25.61) and Kieran Starr ‘29 in the 100 free (1:07.36).
The Carolinas Athletic Association Championship Meet is Wednesday at Asheville School, ahead of the state meet February 9 in Greensboro.
