Put a season like this into perspective for everybody outside the sphere of Christ School soccer?
Leave it to the MaxPreps computer-generated rankings, which have raised the Greenies to eighth in the country and No. 1 amongst all North Carolina teams.
And now come the postseason individual awards.
The newly-crowned NCISAA 4-A state champions put a half-dozen players, including four seniors, on the 2025 Carolinas Athletic Association all-conference team – Costa Barlas ’26, Clayton Butler ’26, Davis Campbell ’28, Wyatt Campbell ’27, Felix Huebner '26, and Taz Kasambara ’26.
Felix was the top vote-getter amongst coaches, making the senior goalkeeper the CAA Player of the Year. Christ School (20-1) went 19-0 with Felix as its starter and conceded a record-low six goals this fall. Clayton’s presence on the back line was largely unsung, but no less important.
Costa led Christ School’s first-ever soccer state champion in goals, with two of his 18 coming in Saturday’s NCISAA 4-A championship game – a 2-1 win at Covenant Day. Wyatt (10) and Taz (nine) ranked first and second in assists, respectively, and both set up Costa with passes sent from the midfield. One of Davis's goals came midway through the second half of a 1-0 state quarterfinal win over visiting Durham Academy on October 17.
