State Champion Greenies Win Awards, Run PRs in Postseason

As it turns out, there are still a few cherries to be put on top of Christ School cross country’s state-championship season.

Last week saw the team win statewide awards from the NCISAA Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for 4-A Runner of the Year (Rocky Hansen ’23) and Coach of the Year (Randy Ashley).

The Greenies won the NCISAA 4-A meet with ease Oct. 29 in Wilmington, marking Christ School's first-ever team state championship in the sport. Saturday’s postseason New Balance Dash for Doobie was the first race in nearly a month for the Greenies.

Judging by the results, they haven't lost a step. Five individuals ran personal-record times for 3,200 meters at Reagan High in Pfafftown, N.C. – Rocky (9 minutes, 19.92 seconds), Dawson Reeves ‘24 (9:26.19), Jackson Burch ’22 (9:34.51), Luke Parrish ‘24 (10:06.94), and Jack Cross ’22 (10:11.34).

Rocky’s time is the best-ever performance for a Christ School athlete at that distance.
