Four goals from as many different players, a convincing edge in possession, and unbending defense went into Christ School varsity soccer’s start to the postseason Tuesday night.
Now, the Greenies hope all those things will travel.
Oliver King ’28 is already tied for the fifth-best season by any Christ School striker with 22 goals after a 4-0 shutout of visiting Gaston Christian in the first round of the NCISAA 4-A state playoffs.
The Greenies (15-2-2) are on the road Thursday night to an opponent they know well. Charlotte Latin (14-5) won a penalty shootout after the two teams ended regulation tied, 2-2, in their season opener August 22, also in Charlotte.
Thursday’s game kicks off at 7 p.m.
Wyatt Campbell ’27, Vytis Rimkus ’29, and Leo Streppa ’29 also scored Tuesday, with assists given out by Lachlan Douglas ’28 (two), Oliver, and Davis Campbell ’29. Jameson Dow ’27 made one save for his fourth shutout of the season.
The winner of Thursday night’s state quarterfinal game in Charlotte will face either No. 7 High Point Wesleyan Christian Academy (17-6) or No. 2 Charlotte Country Day (15-3) on Tuesday.
