Soccer Clinches Outright CAA Championship at Asheville School

Overtime began looking like a very real possibility Wednesday night.

Even more likely?

Wyatt Campbell ’27 serving up a couple late goals by Oliver King ’28 and Christ School varsity soccer three-peating as outright Carolinas Athletic Association champions.

The Greenies (13-2-2, 7-0) had the better of play for nearly all 80 minutes, but nothing to show for it, until a corner kick by Wyatt with 10 minutes and 21 seconds to go.

Standing in a huge crowd, Oliver got a firm strike off the right side of his head for his career-best 20th goal of the season. And another came less than two minutes later, again set up by Wyatt, who tapped a ball behind him to a wide-open Oliver.

Wyatt, who has committed to Presbyterian College, now has nine assists on the season. He is one of eight seniors who will play their final regular-season home game Thursday against Carolina Day. The Senior Night ceremony will take place at halftime of the 5 p.m. game.

Another one of the seniors, Jameson Dow ’27, was the goalkeeper responsible for Wednesday’s shutout.

Christ School is now 20-0 in conference play the last three years and has outscored CAA opponents, 28-1, this fall.
