Saturday’s extended halftime for the 100th playing of “The Game’ allowed us to properly recognize seven new members of the Athletic Hall of Fame.
The 2026 class of inductees were Leigh Harris (Outdoor Program and wrestling coaching), John Fulkerson ‘16 (basketball), school Trustee Marshall Plumlee ‘11 (basketball), Dr. Jared O’Garro-Moore ‘06 (football, track & field, and wrestling), Gerry Barrett ‘66 (basketball and tennis), Gary Chambers ‘67 (football, soccer, and track & field), and Jeff Krieger ‘12 (golf and soccer).
John Fulkerson '16
BASKETBALL
- Two-time team MVP and the 2016 Carolinas Athletic Association Player of the Year.
- As a senior, set a school record for single-season blocks (113) to go along with averages of 14.5 points, 10.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 3.6 blocks per game.
- Finished his two-year varsity career at Christ School with 787 points, 687 rebounds, and 222 blocks (second-most by any Greenies player). Holds the single-game school record for blocks (10).
- After graduation, went on to become one of the most beloved players in recent memory for the University of Tennessee, where John appeared in 165 games (a Southeastern Conference and Tennessee school record).
- Played professionally overseas from 2022 to 2025.
Jeff Krieger '12
GOLF AND SOCCER
- Led wire-to-wire to win the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association 3-A state tournament his senior year and still holds the Christ School scoring record for 36 holes (139). Integral to team state championships for the Greenies as a sophomore and senior.
- Was named the 2012 NCISAA 3-A Player of the Year, Asheville Citizen-Times All-WNC Player of the Year, and Carolinas Athletic Association Player of the Year while maintaining a stroke average of 72.4 for 18 holes with a low round of 66. Won the Buncombe County Tournament his freshman year.
- Key contributor to the early years of Guy Campbell '00 returning to his alma mater as head soccer coach.
- Played college golf for Elon University.
- Served seven years as a U.S. Army Special Forces Green Beret, with two combat tours in Africa.
- Holds a master's degree from Columbia University and is pursuing his MBA through Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management. Currently the Vice President of Capital Raising & Investments with Dynamic Core Capital Partners.
Marshall Plumlee '11
BASKETBALL
- A four-time state champion who still holds the Christ School records for career rebounds (850) and career blocks (250). Marshall scored 921 points, averaging 11.5 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks his senior year.
- Was the second McDonald's All-American in school history – his brother Mason '09 was the first – in addition to being named the 2012 Gatorade State Player of the Year and winner of the Senior Athletic Cup.
- Went on to win an NCAA championship at Duke University and briefly play in the NBA.
- Once his playing career was over, Marshall was a U.S. Army infantry officer for the 75th Ranger Regiment.
- He graduated from Harvard Business School and is currently working in Tactical Opportunities with Blackstone and a member of Christ School's Board of Trustees.
Dr. Jared O'Garro-Moore ’06
FOOTBALL, TRACK, AND WRESTLING
- A two-time N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association 3-A champion in the pole vault.
- Placed third in the state wrestling tournament as a junior and a senior.
- Was a standout receiver for the football team.
- Won the 2006 Senior Athletic Cup.
- Jared was the Prefect in South Carolina House as a senior and has gone on to become the Assistant Director of the Day Program at Columbia University's Irving Medical Center and an Assistant Professor of Medical Psychology.
Gary Chambers '67
FOOTBALL, SOCCER, AND TRACK & FIELD
- Member of the undefeated 1965 and 1966 football teams as a wingback.
- Former school record-holder in the 100-yard dash (10.0 seconds).
- Contributor to track teams that won 24 consecutive dual meets.
Gerry Barrett '66
BASKETBALL AND TENNIS
- Leading scorer (15.0 ppg.) and rebounder (15.0 rpg.) for the 1965-66 basketball team that went 18-2 (at the time, a school record), won 16 consecutive games (also a former school record), and beat Asheville School three times, a first occurrence for the program.
- Named to the Asheville Citizen-Times All-Scholastic team.
- Undefeated in singles and doubles play as a senior for the tennis team.
