Seven Greenies Make All-WNC Cross Country Team

All seven runners on the Asheville Citizen-Times All-Western North Carolina Team?

Nothing less computes with a historic season for Christ School cross country that is stretching into December.

Brooks Barbee ’27 headlines the team as the Greenies’ fourth-ever WNC Runner of the Year and first since Dawson Reeves '24 in 2023.

Dawson’s younger brother, Dallas ’27, was also selected to this year’s first team as were Noah Clancy ’26 and Reynolds Young ’27, while the second team includes Jack Dennehy ’27, Timmy McDowell ’27, and Brody Webb ’27.

Christ School is undefeated this season and has won championships the past four months with all its scoring runners completing 5 kilometers (3.1) miles in under 16 minutes. Brooks, a junior from Waynesville, N.C., is only the second Greenie runner to ever break 15 minutes (14:59.37) which he did at the October 24 NCISAA 4-A state meet in Charlotte.

Christ School concludes its season Saturday at the Nike Cross Nationals (NXN) meet in Portland. Race time is 1:05 p.m. (EST) and the meet will be live-streamed for free viewing at this link. Timmy was injured in last month’s regional qualifier which will allow Ben Graham ’27 to race in his place Saturday.
