EUGENE, Ore. - Rocky Hansen ’23 never disappointed on the biggest stages in high school, a clutch gene that has followed him to college.
The Christ School alumnus and sophomore from Wake Forest University placed a career-best fifth in the 5,000-meter run Friday night at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Rocky’s time of 13 minutes, 22.47 seconds was just off his Wake Forest school record (13:22.06) set earlier this year and qualifies him as a first team All-American (he was a second team All-American as a freshman in 2024).
Rocky’s hometown is Hendersonville, N.C. He was a 10-time state champion at Christ School, which is a record across all sports, and was the first high school runner in North Carolina to break 4 minutes in the mile.
