Add another first to the ever-growing list for Rocky Hansen ’23.
The Wake Forest University recruit became the first runner in Christ School history to break 15 minutes in a 5-kilometer (3.1 miles) race Saturday in Spartanburg, S.C. His winning time of 14 minutes, 57.60 seconds was a course record by an astonishing 27 seconds for the 38th annual Eye-Opener at Milliken Research Center.
Saturday was the first cross country meet of the season for the defending NCISAA 4-A state champion Greenies (165 points), who placed second in the team competition to Wando, S.C. (108).
Dawson Reeves ’24 (10th place, 15:49.30) finished in the top-10 and Christ School had five other runners come in under 18 minutes – Kahzi Sealey ’23 (16th, 16:25.50), Dallas Reeves ‘27 (67th, 17:18.30), Will Peeler ’23 (76th, 17:24.90), Eyob Gill ’24 (86th, 17:31.20), and Patrick Wang ‘24 (99th, 17:45.30).
