Peter Hartwig Becomes a Deacon in Chapel Ordination

Ordinations are not a popularity contest, but if they were?

Chaplain Peter Hartwig had about 400 amplified voices and equally as many sets of hands applauding his ordination as a Deacon.

Bishop José McLoughlin, head of the Episcopal Diocese of Western North Carolina, presided over Wednesday’s ceremony attended by the full student body and faculty in venerable St. Joseph’s Chapel. Also present was Mr. Hartwig's father, Pete, who has been Lead Pastor at the City Church in Charlottesville, Va., since 1997.

Mr. Hartwig has been at Christ School for four years now and was named Chaplain in the spring of 2024. His final ordination as a priest is expected to take place early in the 2026-27 academic year.
