No matter what the records say, having No. 7 healthy gives Christ School a world of confidence for Saturday’s game at Asheville School.

As it should.

Alabama recruit and Under Armour All-American Cayden Jones ’24 not only leads the Greenies in tackles (41) but ranks fourth on the school’s all-time list with 246 tackles for his career. Included in this year’s total are six tackles for a loss and two sacks.

Other statistical leaders for the defense are Cooper Perone ‘25 (38 tackles), Jakob Iwanek ’24 (27 tackles), Jordan Edgecomb ‘25 (24 tackles, 3 sacks), Cash Freeman ‘27 (23 tackles, 3 TFL), Finley Sullivan ‘25 (21 tackles), and Josh Harrison ’24 (20 tackles, 4 TFL, and 2 sacks).

Cayden was among the injured Christ School players who sat out “The Game” last year. He suffered an arm injury five weeks earlier and would also have better career stats if COVID-19 hadn’t limited the number of games the Greenies could play in 2020 and 2021.

In addition to his natural position of linebacker, Cayden has contributed as a quarterback, running back, receiver, and on special teams.

Saturday’s kickoff for the 97th game between Christ School (0-5) and Asheville School (2-2) is scheduled for 1 p.m. in west Asheville. The livestream link will be shared in this week’s Athletic Newsletter and across the Athletic Department’s social media on gameday.
