Luke Garner '24, James Lilly '24 Receive Service Academy Nominations

Congressman Chuck Edwards announced that his office has nominated two Christ School seniors for U.S. service academies. 

Congratulations are in order for Luke Garner '24 (U.S. Air Force) and James Lilly ’24 (U.S. Naval Academy)!

Luke’s hometown is Fletcher, N.C. He is one of our Servant Leadership Chairs, an AP Scholar, and part of the National Honor Society. Luke has played varsity soccer and notably became the first pilot in the Robert Morgan ’36 Aviation Program to complete a solo flight last June.

James is from Hendersonville, N.C. He is a Proctor in Young House, an AP Scholar, National Honor Society member, and part of Christ School’s Honor Council. Outside of school, James has been a captain and national champion for the Asheville Youth Rowing Association.

Congressman Edwards represents North Carolina's 11th district, which covers 15 counties in the western mountains, and was previously a state senator from 2016 to 2023. He visited campus in September 2022 to speak to Christ School's AP U.S. Government and Politics students.
