RABUN GAP, Ga. – Coming off one of his best games of the year, Wes McAven ’27 had another Tuesday.
Wearing a new jersey number (No. 81) instead of his usual No. 8, Christ School’s faceoff specialist was perhaps the biggest difference-maker in a 7-6 road win at Rabun Gap (Ga.).
Wes’s aggressiveness, quick reflexes, and subsequent goal off a faceoff early in the third quarter kept the momentum that the Greenies (7-8) had established early on. The team led wire-to-wire after a goal in the opening minutes from Pike Preyer '28.
Wes was also named the player of the game in Saturday’s Senior Day win over Charlotte Latin.
Back to Tuesday, Pike scored the first and last goal for the Greenies, who had lost for the first time ever to Rabun Gap (7-8) on April 8 (by a score of 10-6 at home). Lucas Nunez ‘29 matched Pike with two goals Tuesday, and Christ School got one goal each from Thomas Flores ‘27 and Palo Miles ‘27.
The final game of the regular season for the Greenies is Friday at Durham Academy. Game time is 4:30 p.m. Christ School beat the Cavaliers in last year’s NCISAA Division I state championship game, 12-4, also in Durham. DA coach Jon Lantzy is Christ School’s incoming Athletic Director for the 2026-27 academic year.
