FLAT ROCK – Golfers of all ages pick up club speed and putt more accurately this time of year.
No one can dispute that Masters week brought out the best in Hudson Hatch ’28 on Thursday.
The sophomore from Daniel Island, S.C., shot a Christ School record for 18 holes (7-under 65) at Kenmure Country Club with seven birdies and pars everywhere else on his scorecard.
Golf has been offered as a sport at Christ School since 1970. Five alumni, including two of the program’s three individual state champions, share the previous school record for 18 holes (66) – Aaron Graham ’16, Jeff Krieger ’12, Carson Ownbey ’18, Judd Parsons ’01, and Jonathan Rector ’15.
Hudson’s round came on the same afternoon that the Greenies got Hank Bradley (1-under 71) back from an injury. Jack Teague ’29 (75) and Levi Ellison ’27 (76) also counted towards the winning team’s score (1-under 287) in a dual match with Asheville Christian Academy (311).
