Contorting his body and the ball, Davis Campbell ’29 found a sliver of daylight around three defenders and a diving goalkeeper Thursday.
Sheer poetry, and the lateral footwork and tenacity to come up with his third goal of the evening earned the sophomore thousands of views on social media only hours later.
Davis’s hat trick – capped off with ingenuity and only 1:20 left on the clock – along with the proven reliability of the defense lifted Christ School varsity soccer to a 9-0 shutout of visiting East Henderson.
The second game in three days for the Greenies (2-1) was a mismatch from the start – they outshot the Eagles (1-2), 29-5, which made it a stress-free night for the goalkeepers, starter Max Rodriguez ’29 and Jameson Dow ’27 (three saves). Jameson is a Loyola University Maryland recruit at goalkeeper, only the sport in question is lacrosse.
Davis also scored in Thursday's 32nd and 64th minute and had an assist, Oliver King ’28 added two goals, and Christ School got one each from Alec Dzialo ’27, Isaiah Redmond ’30, Lyndon Bryan ’27, and Keaton McGee ’30, whose corner in the 22nd minute escaped the East Henderson keeper’s gloves. Presbyterian College recruit Wyatt Campbell ’27 led Christ School with two assists.
The Greenies now have a week off before their next game – August 28 at Metrolina Christian Academy.
