The seventh annual Friday Night Lights meet in Simpsonville, S.C., was comprised almost entirely of South Carolina schools.
Christ School track & field crashed the party.
Led by individual victories from freshmen Dawson Reeves ’24 (800-meter and 1,600-meter runs) and Zack Myers ’24 (high jump), and a first-place showing in the 3,200-meter relay, the Greenies easily won their biggest competition of the season thus far. As a team, they finished with 103 points, 31 more than runner-up Laurens (72) and the rest of the 18-team field.
Dawson’s time in the 1,600 meters (4:25.30) broke his own school record and he handled one leg of the victorious 3,200-meter relay (8:27.69) along with Eyob Gill ‘24, Jackson Burch ’22, and Rocky Hansen ’23. Zack cleared 5-10 in the high jump and also took second in the long jump (19-5) and fifth in the triple jump (38-5.5).
Rocky ’23 was the runner-up in the 1,600 (4:26.31) and 3,200 meters (9:38.78). Painter Richards-Baker ’21 also took second in the 110 hurdles (15.54).
Tony Murphy ’24 was third in the triple jump (38-8) and Drew Redmond ’21 came in fourth in the 200-meter dash (22.89), the same place as Jackson Burch (4:28.68) in the 1,600.
