Christ School’s big man was a problem of epic proportions for every opponent this basketball season.

Carolinas Athletic Association coaches were clearly in agreement, having voted Justice Ajogbor ’20 the conference’s Player of the Year. The 6-foot-10 center and Harvard University recruit averaged 12.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks per game for the Greenies (12-12). What doesn’t show up on the stat sheet is the number of shots Justice altered and rebounding opportunities he created for teammates with his wingspan.

Leading scorer DeAnte Green ’22 (15.0 ppg., 5.4 rpg., and 2.0 assists per game) received all-conference recognition as well. The sophomore forward continues to pull in major Division I scholarship offers, most recently from the University of Tennessee. This season has been his best yet at Christ School and the same could be said for another first time All-CAA selection, junior point guard Drew Redmond ’21 (8.7 ppg., 4.2 apg., and 2.9 rpg.).

Varsity basketball came together after an 0-7 start to the season and won games over four opponents it could see in the NCISAA 4-A playoffs – Charlotte Christian, Charlotte Providence Day, High Point Wesleyan Christian Academy, and Rabun Gap (Ga.). The Greenies found out Sunday that they are the No. 5 seed for the state tournament, meaning they get a first-round bye and await the winner of Cary Academy (9-16) and Charlotte Country Day (8-18).

The second-round game will be played Thursday in the Greenie Dome with a start time announced later this week. Win or lose, Thursday will be the final home game of the season and the game will be streamed live on the Christ School Broadcast Network at this link: https://youtu.be/L9EJ4voqfNg.
