Greenies PR at Kentucky Indoor Meet

Seniors
Joseph Visconti '20, Miles Gardner '20, and Andrew Hammel '20 competed at Saturday's University of Kentucky High School Invitational.

Christ School’s winter track program trekked to the University of Kentucky High School Invitational for the fourth consecutive year and returned home with a handful of personal records.

Seven Greenies competed in nine different events Saturday. The indoor meet attracted athletes from multiple countries and nearly 20 different states.

Andrew Hammel ’20 was entered in the 2-mile run and came in sixth place (9:29.47). The fastest time in program history for that distance converts to 9:26.17 for 3,200 meters, which would be a Christ School record as well.

Fellow senior Joseph Visconti ’20 (4:33.81) and Dawson Reeves ’24 (4:43.62) also sped around the Nutter Fieldhouse track for personal records in the 1-mile run, while Rocky Hansen ’23 ran his second-best time (4:37.27).

Painter Richards-Baker ’21 (8.79) and Miles Gardner '20 (8.82) set PRs in the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles.

The N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association does not officially sanction indoor track as a winter sport. Christ School’s first scheduled outdoor meet is Friday Night Lights on March 20 at Hillcrest High in Simpsonville, S.C.
