Many of North Carolina’s very best distance programs were entered in the adidas Cross Country Challenge. Christ School showed that it belonged well before the morning dew had dried on the WakeMed Soccer Park course.

The Greenies were sixth out of 24 championship division teams who raced Saturday in Cary, N.C., with 229 points, ranking higher than any other independent school. They beat out last year’s NCHSAA 4-A state champion, Cardinal Gibbons, by 63 points.

Rocky Hansen ‘23 placed third individually with a time of 15 minutes, 32.40 seconds, while cousins Jackson Burch ‘22 (18th place, 16:05.90) and Dawson Reeves ‘24 (25th, 16:13.20) each ran personal records for 3.1 miles. Jack Cross ‘22 (73rd, 17:07.10), Luke Parrish ‘24 (110th, 17:42.00), Kahzi Sealey ’23 (121st, 17:56.50) and Eyob Gill ‘24 (154th, 18:54.30), rounded out Christ School's top-seven runners.

The next meet for the Greenies is Wednesday at Asheville Christian Academy.
