Greenies Begin Winter Break College Tour

Some might look at last year as a tough act to follow: Christ School’s Class of 2023 earned $2.7 million in scholarships and enrolled at colleges in 20 different states.

Director of College Guidance Kirk Blackard and the rest of his office are continually reinvigorated by finding the best possible fit for every Greenie.

Look no further than Mr. Blackard’s plans for Winter Break – he and Associate Director Tracy Weldon are helping 10 boys make most of their time away by touring colleges in North Carolina and Virginia.

Friday’s start to the Winter Break College Tour took the Greenies to Wake Forest, Elon, and UNC-Chapel Hill, in that order. They not only got the full sensory experience at each campus but got to share in their brotherhood with Rocky Hansen ’23, Henry Nicholls ‘23, Morehead-Cain Scholar Ty Besses ‘22, Jackson Fender ’21, and Josh Harrison ’24, who is enrolled early at Wake Forest to play football.

Students on the Winter Break College Tour are Abdullah Al ledan ’25, R.J. Fox ’25, Wilfred Freund ’26, Evan Reich ’26, Spencer Vande Weghe ’25, Danny Ton ’26, Zach Wetzel ’25, Kevin Xue ’26, Tim Wu ’26, and Jakob Jourdan ’26.
