Michael Posse ’22 was mowing down everyone in sight Thursday afternoon. He was just as unforgiving when it became his turn to hit.

Michael struck out nine Cannon School batters in four innings before giving way to Christ School’s bullpen, and the junior’s bases-loaded triple in the seventh helped seal a 9-3 road win in Concord, N.C.

Garrett Clapsaddle ’21 and Jack Young ’22 led the Greenies (1-0) with three base hits apiece, while Michael and Ethan Rose ‘24 added two each. Andrew Grande ’21, Parker Davis ’22, Mickey Meguiar ’21, Jakob Iwanek ’24, Coleman Taylor ’21, and Cayden Jones ’24 had one hit.

Christ School led wire-to-wire in its season opener, stole nine bases as a team, and the pitching staff racked up 14 combined strikeouts. Reliever Tamlin Ferguson ’23 got the Greenies out of a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the fifth inning, and the score was 3-2 when Michael cleared the bases in the top of the seventh.

Spring Break begins Friday at noon for Christ School which has three games scheduled during the break. All three games are against Dominion Christian (Ga.) - Monday (7 p.m.), Tuesday (7 p.m.), and Wednesday (4 p.m.) at the LakePoint Sports Complex in Emerson, Ga.
