LYNCHBURG, Va. – Dawson Reeves ’24 lined up to race Division I college runners Friday at Liberty University’s Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational.

He held his own and then some.

The Christ School junior placed 15th out of 43 entrants in the men’s 800 meters, winning his heat with the fastest high school time in North Carolina indoor track this winter (1 minute, 53.31 seconds). It ranks as the 10th best performance among U.S. high school runners.

Eric Albright from the University of Maryland won Friday’s race in 1:50.78. The field also included runners from Charlotte, East Carolina, High Point, Liberty, Morgan State, Navy, Penn, Queens, Virginia, VCU, VMI, Western Carolina, and William & Mary.

This upcoming spring season should be a big one for Dawson, who set Christ School’s outdoor school record for the 800 (1:52.83) as a sophomore.
