Dawson Reeves '24 Runs School Record in Steeplechase

INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. - How to make a 2,000-meter run even harder? Throw in a few obstacles, including water jumps.

Duke University recruit Dawson Reeves ’24 ran the sixth-fastest 2,000-meter steeplechase time in North Carolina history (6 minutes, 6.71 seconds) Saturday at the Spring Into the Season Kickoff track meet hosted by Metrolina Christian Academy.

Luke Parrish ’24 came in third place (6:22.47) and Dallas Reeves ‘27 was eighth (6:36.21).

The steeplechase is rarely run in high school meets as most facilities, including Christ School’s, are not equipped to hold it. Dawson’s time betters the school record by more than 10 seconds.
