Christ School’s triple-loop course was manicured to perfection and Wednesday’s weather conditions made for an idyllic October afternoon.

Most importantly, six Greenies went out as winners on Senior Day.

Cross country had seven of the top-nine finishers in a Carolinas Athletic Association meet, led by the tandem of Rocky Hansen ‘23 (first place, 16:20.10) and Dawson Reeves ‘24 (second, 16:20.40).

Dallas Reeves ‘27 (third place, 16:56.80), Kahzi Sealey ’23 (fourth, 16:57.10), and Eyob Gill ’24 (sixth, 17:23.86) also counted towards Christ School’s team score of 16 points. Asheville School (73 points) was the second-place team.

Wednesday represented the final home meet in the high school careers of Rocky, Kahzi, Noah Graham ’23, Sebastian Knight ’23, Vovi Lagutin ’23, and Will Peeler ’23.

The defending NCISAA 4-A champions get their first look at the course for this year’s state championship (Hagan-Stone Park in Greensboro) with the Greenies’ next race on Friday.

“I feel great about where our guys are at right now. Training has been fantastic and kids are seeing some real growth,” Coach Randy Ashley said.

“I’m really looking forward to the rest of the season. The guys are so terrific and they support each other. We know that titles aren’t given, and it's going to be a dogfight (to repeat as state champions).”

Soccer (Oct. 11) and football (Oct. 14) will hold their Senior Days next week.
