Cross Country Captures Virginia Showcase Championship

MECHANICSVILLE, Va. – North Carolina, South Carolina, and now Virginia.

Christ School won its third major invitational in as many states Saturday morning, this time returning home with the Virginia Cross Country Showcase championship.

All eight Greenie runners who made the trip to the Richmond, Va., area ran the 3.1-mile Pole Green Park course in under 16 minutes – Brooks Barbee ’27 (10th place, 15:05.40), Reynolds Young ’27 (16th, 15:11.20), Noah Clancy ’26 (17th, 15:12.20), Dallas Reeves ’27 (19th, 15:13.20), Jack Dennehy ’27 (29th, 15:24.30), Brody Webb ’27 (35th, 15:28.90), Timmy McDowell ’27 (48th, 15:36.80), and Ben Graham ’27 (60th, 15:48.10). By virtue of their personal-record times, the Greenies got to sign a banner, as is tradition at the Virginia Showcase.

Christ School’s team total of 49 points was easily better than runner-up Calvert Hall College (188 points) from Maryland and third-place Greer (S.C.) Middle College (202). There were 32 teams overall in the boys showcase division.

Saturday was the second time this season that the Greenies have won a race of this magnitude with every one of their runners breaking 16 minutes. The first was the Hare and Hounds Invitational on Sept. 20 in Charlotte.
