Emanuel Richards '23 has signed to play basketball for Longwood University.

Nearly one-fourth of Christ School’s Class of 2023 was seated at a long row of tables Monday morning with college paraphernalia spread all around.

An extraordinary year for Greenie athletics called for the vast space of Mebane Field House to hold a special all-school Assembly.

Students, faculty, family, and friends celebrated the college decisions of 16 seniors – not only for the physical ability that makes each of them stand out in sports – but the academics, character, and more which has led to their opportunities.

Assistant Athletic Director for Student Life and Varsity Lacrosse head coach Patrick Haley was the emcee for Monday’s program, which included these signees in alphabetical order:

  • Quinton Cancel - Davidson College Football
  • Tidiane Gakou - Colby College Lacrosse
  • Chase Gribble - Southern Wesleyan University Baseball
  • Rocky Hansen - Wake Forest University Cross Country and Track
  • Steven Hernandez - Catawba College Lacrosse
  • Christian Hudson - Long Island University Lacrosse
  • Jamal Hutchison - N.C. Central University Golf
  • Taylor Kuehn - Samford University Golf
  • Tray Mauney - Lafayette College Football
  • Zack Myers - North Carolina State University Football
  • Johno Pierce - Roane State Community College
  • Brody Raleigh - Western Carolina University Baseball
  • Emanuel Richards - Longwood University Basketball
  • Anthony Robinson - University of South Florida Basketball
  • Aiden Schook - Long Island University Lacrosse
  • Tom Tang - Oberlin College Football

The Christ School Athletic Department has produced nearly 200 college athletes since 2005, with 19 Greenies expanding their careers to the professional ranks during that time.

The Class of 2023 is made up of 68 boys total and has already equaled the school’s number of college athletes from the previous year. More photos from Monday's Assembly can be found at this link.
