Cade Graning '26 Powers Varsity Baseball to 12th Win

Every senior wants a signature moment from their final high school season.

For Christ School second baseman Cade Graning ’26, there was no better time for his first home run of the year than Tuesday with the bases loaded.

Cade turned on a 2-1 pitch, sending it deep to left field for a grand slam that snowballed into varsity baseball’s 13-3 home win over the Greenville (S.C.) Hurricanes.

The No. 6 hitter in the Greenies’ lineup would go on to drive in a fifth run and the middle infield was well-served by a big afternoon from shortstop Wells Alderman ’26, too. Wells homered and drove in three runs, and Christ School (12-6) got two hits and a double from both Henry Tutera ’28 and Patrick Robichaud ’27. The two combined for three RBIs.

The Greenies lost a close road game March 24 to the Hurricanes, 7-6, but the rematch was the polar opposite.

Five first-inning runs and nine by the third allowed Jack Ray ’26 to pitch freely. He threw four scoreless innings with one hit, four strikeouts, and no walks allowed.

The next game for Christ School is Friday at Metrolina Christian Academy.
