Breakout Game Leads to Major College Awards for Aydan White '20

Aydan White ’20 has put himself and Christ School football in the national conversation like never before since a breakout game Saturday night for N.C. State University. The Wolfpack defeated Texas Tech, 27-14, in Raleigh before a sold-out crowd and ESPN TV audience. 

Aydan was named the Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week on Sunday and the ACC Defensive Back of the Week on Monday.

The Greenie is a sophomore cornerback from Asheville. In his final season at Christ School, Aydan helped lead the team to the NCISAA Division I state championship game with team-high totals in receptions (27), receiving yards (536), and receiving touchdowns (eight).

RALEIGH, N.C. – Cornerback Aydan White has been named the ACC Defensive Back of the Week after his performance in the Pack's win over Texas Tech. This follows up him earning National Defensive Player of the Week honors as well.

He became the first NC State corner to record a pair of INTs in the same game since Jack Tocho did so against Syracuse in 2014.

In the first quarter, with the Red Raiders driving, his third career pass and raced 84 yards for a score. That marked the seventh-longest interception return in school history and the longest since 2001. In the fourth quarter, he picked off his fourth career pass.

White also tallied five total tackles, including a huge eight-yard sack. He enters the UConn game tied for first in the ACC and fifth in the FBS in interceptions with two.
