Bishop's Annual Spring Visit Includes Baptism, Confirmation for 5 Greenies

Divine company for a most sacred occasion Wednesday in St. Joseph’s Chapel.

The Rt. Rev. Bishop José A. McLoughlin made his annual spring visit to Christ School for the baptism of Bowen Maggard ’28 and the confirmation of four more Greenies – Peden Byrd ’28, Noah Clancy ’26, Henry Gibbs ’26, and Oliver Van Orden ’29.

Bishop McLoughlin was consecrated as the seventh bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Western North Carolina in 2016. He has been a good friend to the school ever since and is an Ex Officio member of the Board of Trustees.

It is always a treat for the students and faculty to hear about his spiritual journey as well as Bishop McLoughlin’s background in the criminal justice field. He was a police officer in the state of Florida and worked for the U.S. Department of Justice before answering the call to priesthood.

Thank you to Bishop McLoughlin for spending the extra time with the boys at Wednesday’s Lunch and Learn, which followed the Eucharist service.
