Successful Spring Break for Varsity Lacrosse

Greenies tested throughout stretch of games in Raleigh, N.C., area

The season is still young, but Varsity Lacrosse has learned a lot more about its potential during Spring Break.

Christ School capped things off Saturday morning with a 10-9 overtime win over six-time state champion Wando (S.C.). The team also had victories over Durham Academy, North Raleigh Christian Academy, and Ravenscroft during a stretch of games played in the Raleigh, N.C., area.

Hunter Vines '18 scored six times in Thursday's 9-4 game at Ravenscroft, allowing the Greenies (5-1) to win a meeting between the last two Division I state champs in NCISAA lacrosse. Hunter also had the winning goal in the Durham Academy game on Wednesday, and then again Saturday against Wando. Hunter, who has signed to play in college for High Point, led the way versus Wando with three goals, one assist and 12 groundballs.

Davis Lindsey '20, Zack Grinde '19, and Coles Manning '19 all added two goals each, while Hutson Ford '19 also added a goal. Furman recruit Alex Byron '18, Will McNichols '19, Marcus Berger '19, St. Bonaventure recruit Max Brie '18, Luke Brazinski '18, and Spencer Dyer '19 were defensive standouts. Beau Hecimovich '20 made 15 saves, including three from point-blank range, in the fourth quarter.

Christ School's only loss last week came to another defending state champion, Westminster (Ga.), by a 12-9 score on Friday at Duke University.

"We have surely been battle-tested this early in the season and I could not be more proud of our boys," Greenies coach Jeff Miles said. "They play with heart, grit, and never give up on each other. I truly enjoy every minute on and off the field with this special group. I hope everyone enjoys this week off."

Spring Break for Christ School ends on March 18. The next game for Varsity Lacrosse is March 24 against North Carolina's top-ranked public school team, Lake Norman.
