Greenies Swimming Takes Home Two Wins on Tuesday

Just two weeks away from the CAA Conference Championship meet, the Varsity Swim team headed to Asheville School to face Providence Day, Asheville Christian, Asheville School and the Trailblazers. The boys finished 2-2 on the evening falling to a much larger Providence Day and rival Asheville School, but trounced Asheville Christian and the Trailblazers.

Senior Paul Gao '18 nearly took home a win in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 23.75, but finished second by less than half a second. He backed that up with a 4th place finish in the 100 Yard Freestyle as well. Beau Simmons '18 placed third in an incredibly tough 200 Yard IM field and placed 3rd in the 100 Yard Breaststroke. Underclassmen Frank Howden had an incredibly finish in the 500 Yard Freestyle placed 2nd overall.

Head Coach Kevin Lisska said, "This was a good warm up for the conference meet. We have several guys that are very close to qualifying for state and we will push them to help close that gap this week." Lastly, he was impressed by the huge improvement from a couple of his swimmers. "TJ Bell, Carleo, Charlie and Simon have come a very long way. While just a few seconds off State Qualifying, they have dropped 10 seconds since the beginning of the year.

The Greenies will swim at Asheville School on February 9th, in the CAA Conference Meet.
