March has been some kind of month for Christ School varsity baseball and Mickey Meguiar ’21.

The Greenies are 7-0 overall and averaging 13.3 runs per game, thanks in no small part to their cleanup hitter.

Four days after pitching his first career no-hitter, Mickey rounded the bases Tuesday at Rabun Gap (Ga.) with a grand slam, the signature moment of a 14-2 rout to begin Carolinas Athletic Association play. With the calendar ready to flip to a new month, Mickey has a team-high 1.040 slugging percentage and is the leader in RBIs (13) and home runs (three).

He and Jakob Iwanek ’24 both went deep Tuesday and a bases-loaded triple by Jack Young ’22 were the biggest blows out of Christ School’s nine hits. The Greenies took a 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning and proceeded to score multiple runs in every inning after that. The game was stopped after five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Mickey and fellow senior Charlie Bell ’21 both went 2-for-3 at the plate, while Andrew Grande ’21 and Webb Hughes ’22 were 1-2. Garrett Clapsaddle ’21 drove in a pair of runs.

Christ School used three different pitchers – starter Michael Posse ’22 and relievers Ethan Rose ’24 and Charlie – to limit the Eagles (8-5, 1-1) to two hits. The win went to Michael, who allowed two runs, one hit and six walks in 2.2 innings. He finished with three strikeouts.

Rabun Gap left the bases loaded in the second and third innings.
