Soccer could not have set the tone for Asheville School Week any better.
The JV and varsity teams went on the road Tuesday to outscore the Blues by a combined total of 16-0.
Costa Barlas ’26 achieved his third hat trick of the season with three goals, naturally. Lyndon Bryan ‘27 added two goals, and Taz Kasambara ‘26 and Oliver King ‘28 had one apiece in the 7-0 varsity win. Assists were given out by Steven Barlas ‘28 (two), Costa (one), Oliver (one), and Will Grabowski ‘26 (one). Tim Wu ‘26 made three saves in relief of starter Felix Huebner ’26 to preserve the shutout.
The site of Tuesday’s soccer games, Asheville School’s McNaughton Stadium, is where the 99th playing of “The Game” will take place 10 days from now, on the 1-year anniversary of Hurricane Helene.
Varsity soccer is now 8-1-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the Carolinas Athletic Association. The next games for soccer are Thursday at home against Carolina Day (JV at 4 p.m., followed by the varsity at 5:30).
