Study the long history of Christ School athletics and one thing immediately becomes clear over the decades. Many of our winningest coaches know the Greenie student-athlete experience firsthand as alumni.
Guy Campbell '00 aims to give every one of his soccer players the same quality experience he had 26 years ago, a philosophy he talks about in the above video. Coach Campbell has won a school-record 171 games in two stints here (2010-20 and 2022-present).
His current team has a 17-1 record and 16-game winning streak, has won back-to-back Carolinas Athletic Association championships, and only allowed five goals this season. Christ School's sole loss (August 14 at home to Covenant Day) came in a scoreless game that went to penalty kicks. Making this run even more meaningful for Coach Campbell is the fact that his two sons, Davis '28 and Wyatt '27, have been key contributors.
Thursday's 4-0 shutout of Asheville School was Senior Night for nine Greenies — Costa Barlas '26, Clayton Butler '26, Sam Farago '26, Will Grabowski '26, Felix Huebner '26, Taz Kasambara '26, Wait McCormick '26, Declan Szostczuk '26, and Tim Wu '26.
Christ School has earned the No. 2 seed for the NCISAA 4-A state playoffs, which means a first-round bye and homefield advantage for the second round, Friday's game against the winner of Cary Academy (8-5) or Durham Academy (15-4). Scheduling updates for this game will be posted to the Athletic Department's website and social media — @greeniesports on Instagram and X.
