Searching for a college can be stressful, but two Christ School seniors have a new line to put on future applications.

Dean of Curriculum & Instruction Bryan Martin announced Tuesday that Tobenna Okoli ’22 has been chosen for the College Board National African American Recognition Program. Likewise, Ivan Mora ’22 has been selected for the College Board National Hispanic Recognition Program.

The Greenies earned this recognition for their academic achievements and scores on the PSAT, also known as the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.  The College Board will share their names with more than 1,500 colleges.

Tobenna is from Waxhaw, N.C., while Ivan’s hometown is Mills River, N.C.

“You have accomplished these milestones in the face of an immensely demanding year – one of disruption, challenge, missed milestones, and loss,” College Board CEO David Coleman wrote in a letter.

“In a year of hardship, you demonstrated resilience and an unwavering commitment to owning your future. You have put in the effort and your future is bright. I couldn’t be more delighted to share this great news.”

Tobenna, Ivan, and the rest of Christ School's seniors will receive their green blazers for the first time Wednesday in Chapel and wear the jackets shortly after for their Class Photo in Yard A.
