Head coach Benjie Colberg talks to his players during a break in Thursday's game.

There is a lot of fight in this year’s Christ School varsity lacrosse team.

The Greenies (5-0) have fallen behind at some point in four of their five games. They are still undefeated for a reason.

Christian Hudson ’23 led the way with four goals Thursday and Sam Bassett ’22 and Emmett Paradine ’22 had three each to push the team to victory, 15-10, over Baylor School (Tenn.).

The Red Raiders (3-4) held a brief 9-8 lead in the third quarter before the Greenies responded with a 7-1 scoring run to end the game.

Aiden Schook ’23 added two goals. Nate Kelley '22, Tidiane Gakou ’23 and Jack Shimer ’22 had one each. Assists went to Jack Staley ’23 (two), Tidiane (one), Emmett (one), Aiden (one), and Nate (one).

Goalkeeper Lucas Little ’23 only allowed Baylor to score once in the fourth quarter and the work of Carter Sherwood ’25 on faceoffs was critical to the win for Christ School.

The Greenies host Charlotte Providence Day (4-2) Friday at 4:30 p.m., a rematch of last year’s NCISAA Division I state championship game (won by the Chargers, 10-6).

TENNIS

Greenies 6, Charlotte Christian 3

Even without two of its top-three singles players, Christ School varsity tennis was too much for Charlotte Christian on Thursday afternoon.

Doubles were played first and the Greenies got wins from all three of their teams – Xander Barber ‘23-Kevin Li ‘24 at No. 1, Ben Fedder ‘24-Michael Drendel ‘23 at No. 2, and Sam Ludington ‘23-William Paschall ‘24 at No. 3.

Coach Jameel Brenneman held Xander and Ben out of singles and the Greenies (2-0) still picked up three more points, highlighted by Michael winning in the top spot.

Christ School is back home for Friday’s 4:30 match with High Point Wesleyan Christian Academy.
