Lacrosse Passes Tough Road Test in Season Opener

Face-offs are normally a gimme for Christ School lacrosse, all because of Lehigh University recruit Sean Dow ’21.

While that was not the case Tuesday night, Sean still won more (13) than he lost against Hough junior George Kalos, who has committed to North Carolina. The visiting Greenies were the superior team on the scoreboard as well, winning their season opener, 13-7.

Christ School was comfortably ahead 3-0 after the first quarter, 9-2 at halftime, and never looked back for the program’s 11th consecutive victory (a streak that dates back to the 2019 season). The last team to beat the Greenies (Weddington) lost to Hough in 2020.

Tuesday’s scoring leaders were Nate Kelley ‘22 (4 goals), Emmett Paradine ‘22 (3 goals, 1 assist), Mikey Peralta ’21 (1 goal, 2 assists), Keese Zugehoer ‘21 (1 goal, 2 assists), Noah Beaulieu ’21 (1 goal, 2 assists), Christian Hudson ‘23 (2 assists), and Sam Bassett ‘22 (2 goals, 1 assist).

Sam Brie ’21 made 15 saves in his first varsity start at goaltender.

The Greenies now turn their attention to the first home game of the season - Friday at 4:30 p.m. against Christ Church Episcopal (S.C.). For fans who are unable to attend, there will be a Christ School Broadcast Network live stream.
