KNOXVILLE - Welcome back, Johno Pierce ’23.

The senior from Brentwood, Tenn., looked as comfortable as he could be Wednesday in Tennessee, getting his very first at bats of the season.

Johno has been sidelined by a shoulder injury and is still unable to play in the field for the Greenies (7-2), but he did more than enough to make up for it at the plate. The Roane State (Tenn.) recruit banged out six hits and four RBIs in a pair of wins for Varsity Baseball – 11-4 over Knoxville West and 6-3 over Knoxville Catholic.

His half-dozen hits included a standup RBI triple in the Knoxville Catholic game that Johno celebrated with a dance on third base.

Christ School never fell behind in either game and totaled 27 hits compared to six for their opposition. Western Carolina University recruit Brody Raleigh ’23 only needed a home run to hit for the cycle for the second time this season against Knoxville West.

He and Matthew Hammel ’23 matched one another by going 3-for-5 with a combined five RBIs. Chase Gribble ’23 smacked a pair of doubles, while Luka Rose ’25 and Jakob Iwanek ’24 added two hits apiece.

Luka and then Jakob came on as relievers after Charlie Collins '24 picked up the win. He had four strikeouts and only issued a single walk in a two-inning scoreless and hitless start.

In the nightcap against Knoxville Catholic, underclassmen Patrick Robichaud ’27 and Wells Alderman ’26 combined to hold the Fighting Irish to just one earned run and two hits.

Jonathan Reece ’25 went 3-4 with two RBIs. Jakob was 2-3 with an RBI and Chase was 2-4 with an RBI.

Christ School’s next game is a noon matchup Saturday at home against High Point Wesleyan.
