VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Opportunities to race the Distance Medley Relay against elite competition come along very rarely.

Christ School has never run it better than the Greenies did Friday afternoon at the Virginia Showcase indoor track meet.

The team of Dawson Reeves ’24, Brendan Regan ’24, Kahzi Sealey ’23, and Rocky Hansen ’23 covered 4,000 meters in a time that is the fastest in the country this year – 10 minutes, 13.19 seconds. It breaks the old school record (10:28.68) in the event by 15 seconds.

The Distance Medley Relay team was run in this order – 1,200 meters (Dawson, 3:10.97), 400 meters (Brendan, 55.41), 800 meters (Kahzi, 2:02.01) and 1,600 meters (Rocky, 4:04.78). Rocky ran the final 800 meters of his anchor leg with a negative split of 1:58, meaning it was faster than the first half.

Centennial High School out of Maryland was Friday’s second-place team (10:14.80).
